Before you fill out the expression of interest form at the bottom of this page, please read the following frequently asked questions carefully.

When does the school start and end?
We start on Mon Oct 24 at 13:30 and end on Sat 29th at 12:00. Students should have arrived in Bertinoro before 13:00 on Monday at the latest and are expected to stay the whole week.

How much does it cost?
Full registration is €440. This covers accommodation for the whole week in shared rooms, breakfast, lunch as well as an excursion. Students will only have to pay for the cost of travel to Bertinoro and for their dinners in the many cosy, and reasonably priced, restaurants in the village.

Can I get support to attend the Summer School?
If you would be unable to attend without financial assistance, then let us know: we have various funds available to support deserving students. We do require those to whom we offer assistance to be considerate and modest as our funds are not unlimited and different sources of funding come with different limitations. However, we will do our best to support you in attending PLISS. If you are accepted for PLISS, and have requested financial assistance, then please check with the organizers before booking any travel.

Who can attend?
PLISS 2022 is aimed at mid/late stage PhD students and early postdocs working in and around programming languages. We will accept some applicants from other career stages, though PLISS 2023 will be aimed at more junior applicants. Note: previous attendees of PLISS are eligible to attend PLISS 2022.

Are there prerequisites?
An undergraduate programming language class and/or compiler class is all you need.
The Expression of Interest Form
Once you have read the information above, please fill out PLISS 2022 expression of interest form by 2022-07-28. We will then notify applicants, successful or not, on or before 2022-08-09. Successful applicants will receive a link to the payment site which must be completed by 2022-08-31.
